Custom software shouldn’t feel like a leap of faith
Our people + our platform = no more guesswork.
95% of AI software initiatives fail. That’s why we made Cadence.
Aboard can help you realize the real-world value and power that AI promises. We don’t just deploy agents, or vibe code prototypes. We build platforms.
Why do we succeed when others fail? We follow a proven process we call Cadence, which pairs our custom AI software tooling with human expertise to analyze your business, identify the fixes needed, plan and build a framework that makes sense, migrate, and deploy. All of that used to take months or years. Now, we can do it in weeks.
Our solution engineers, AI-empowered superconsultants, partner with you and take a holistic view of your business. We get to know you, then dig deep to find your solution with certainty and clarity—before writing a single line of code. You get smarter, more refined solutions, faster than ever before, to transform your business and prepare you for the future.
After the software ships, our team stays close, standing behind our work—and supporting your business. Your AI revolution is just beginning. Let’s get started.
Introducing Cadence.
Landscape.
We map your market, business model, and competition, so our work begins with a shared perspective.
Audit.
We examine your users, tools, workflows, and data management, and define where friction is costing you.
Blueprint.
Your bespoke product strategy, ideal user journeys, PRDs, and more to nail down a plan everyone can rally behind.
Architecture.
The invisible skeleton that determines how you can scale, from API to data modeling to system design.
Migrate.
We get you off your old stack without breaking the business through secure and safe migrations, integrations, and deployment.
Build.
Your new software now takes full shape, through point releases, robust testing, and security audits, resulting in enterprise-grade code at AI speed.
Your AI partner for the next big leap.
We offer the best aspects of a traditional software agency and the supercharged speed of AI tooling. Here's what you can expect in partnering with us.
Full Context Ingestion.
A team of solution engineers gets to know your business and your needs. This gets fed into Cadence to start collecting additional intel, context, insights, and recommendations.
You Get V1 in Week One.
Building starts and first cuts of real working software are turned around quickly - no lengthy decks or piles of specs. And it's all made and validated by humans.
Collaborative Iteration.
As we gain clarity, the software is refined and fortified and users are brought in for testing and feedback. Our feedback loop is fast and you can see updates right away.
Production in Weeks.
Within a few weeks your data is migrated, integrations are complete and your software is in production.
Continuous Improvement.
Beyond 1.0: we keep working together to make your software better. Meanwhile Cadence tracks changes to your business and industry, so you keep building smarter.

Software solutions are essential, but they're also just the beginning: our team collaborates with you, to clean up your digital and data messes and get your AI game plan in motion.
Cadence FAQ
What is Cadence?
Put simply, Cadence is a process coupled with custom-built tooling. The Cadence pillars (Landscape, Audit, Blueprint, Build, etc.) are ways of approaching different parts of a problem, in the way that other product management frameworks like Jobs to Be Done or North Star or even Scrum attempt to break down gnarly problems into a set of mental models, rituals, and artifacts.
How does Cadence differ from something like Agile?
The past ten years of C-suite thinking have been dominated by Agile transformation, and that era is now over. In one way, Agile was all about managing the human bottleneck. Kanban boards, sprints, standups — these were rituals designed to break down tasks into manageable chunks so that teams didn’t go off and spend months building the wrong thing. But what took months now takes AI an hour or two. Agile wasn’t built for agents.
Cadence is our attempt to address that fact. It’s our answer to the question: When execution becomes commoditized, how do we work together to deliver the right solution?
What does Cadence actually do that AI coding tools don't?
Cadence, in practice, is a lot more than vibe coding a prototype or even using AI-assisted software engineering to build a production platform. The Cadence approach helps solution engineers understand the problem space they are working in much more quickly and fully, so they may ideate on good strategies with a client, and collaborate with other disciplines in ways that talking to an AI chatbot simply doesn’t support.
The reason this is significant is that we believe it’s the only way to ultimately deliver a robust, working, secure solution to the problems most companies face. And it can do it much faster than it could a year ago. That’s its promise.
So is this just human-in-the-loop engineering to ensure nothing is hallucinated and no mistakes are introduced by AI tools?
It’s way more than that. Claude Code became so popular not because the model powering it was miles ahead of other companies’ models, but because the harness around the model was really useful. The product work Anthropic did to give access to tools, skills, etc. made it much more helpful than a chat or API interface.
Cadence is our harness — a set of tools, processes, principles, and opinions — that, when coupled with other powerful tools like Claude Code and the latest models and tools available, can produce incredibly good, incredibly reliable product solutions.
How do you describe Cadence in a single image or metaphor?
Our cofounder Paul Ford once described Cadence as a kind of map. Phase names like “Landscape” and “Explore” already evoke a voyage, and maps are how you navigate a voyage successfully. AI is a new planet of potential, but as with any new realm, it is making a lot of would-be explorers — business leaders — anxious, for plenty of good reasons. They know there is a lot of power, if they could make sense of it. That’s why we created Cadence, to provide the map so we can get the most out of this new era safely, securely, and sensibly.
